E132: Steven Vernitsky 1L at Drake University Law School

Steven is a 1L at Drake University Law School. Steven’s journey to the law has just begun, but with insights fresh in his mind about the success he’s gained, he delivers valuable insights for anyone out there.

Steven and I started before Law School, where he was deciding between heading off to Med School or going to Law School. Due to his prior experience being a part of EMS services, which he is still an instructor of today, he felt that he was a he being a reactive advocate. Going to law school would allow Steven to be a proactive advocate. Even with no prior legal connections, Steven headed off to Drake University Law School.

We then reflected on Steven’s first year of Law School this past year, which he loved. It represented a new challenge and material that he had never encountered before. Through different iterations of study systems and managing his time, Steven would accomplish incredible success in his first year.

Finally, we spoke about Steven’s participation in Rhetoric’s Moot Court Madness, the first nationwide AI-judged Moot Court competition. Steven spoke about his experience in the competition thus far, as well as reaching the semifinals of the competition. Steven would add great book and tech recommendations, as well as amazing tips about not only surviving but succeeding in your first year of Law School.
