E96: Matt Schachte Owner and Founder of Schachte Law Group

Matt is a Syracuse University College of Law graduate, and currently works as the Owner and Founder of Schachte Law Group and is the Chief Executive Officer at Schachte Bar Exam Tutor. In this episode, Matt Schachte shares a compelling journey from feeling like just another employee to reclaiming his time and building a life on his own terms.

We rewind to his pre-law school days, where Matt, working a middle-management role, faced a moment of disillusionment. He decided, then and there, to pivot. That spark led him to the LSAT and ultimately to Suffolk University Law School before transferring to Syracuse University College of Law.

Matt dives into the rollercoaster of his first year, sharing candid insights about the highs, lows, and the lack of awareness he had of the expectations of Law School. With no safety net, he pushed forward, defining his own path to success.

Post-graduation, Matt entered the world of Big Law, where he honed critical skills—taking initiative, making the most of autonomy, and building an unwavering work ethic. He reflects on the transient nature of legal victories and the mindset of top attorneys who dive right back into the next challenge. But Matt felt a pull toward something greater, which led him to establish Schachte Law Group and Schachte Bar Exam Tutoring.

In this conversation, Matt highlights essential skills overlooked in law school—data literacy, active listening, and critical thinking. He stresses the value of finding clients who align with your values and the importance of saying no to maintain the quality of client relationships.

Finally, we dive into Matt’s expertise in bar exam tutoring, where he sets expectations, customizes study schedules, and guides aspiring lawyers with a no-nonsense approach.

This episode is a masterclass on pursuing freedom, owning your journey, and making the most out of every opportunity. You don’t want to miss it.
