Khurram is a Univesrity of Illinois Chicago School of Law graduate and works as the Founder of Freshwater Counsel. In this episode, we dive deep into the fascinating and unconventional journey of Khurram, whose path to law was anything but linear. With a degree in Biology and Psychology, Khurram's career began in research labs, transitioned to a stint as a Futures Broker, and ultimately led him back to the classroom for law school seven years after his undergraduate studies.

Khurram and I explored how his diverse experiences before law school shaped his legal journey. He emphasized the value of diving headfirst into new challenges and creating value in every role. His time as a Futures Broker profoundly influenced his mindset, particularly in terms of understanding risk and reward.

We delved into the significance of mentorship in Khurram’s career and how strategic networking allowed him to transition seamlessly between roles. A central theme in Khurram’s career is his reliance on a framework of bets and probabilities, a skill honed during his time as a Futures Broker. This approach has consistently guided his career decisions, underscoring his belief that the greatest bet you can make is on yourself.

Lastly, Khurram shared his top book recommendations, insights from his podcast, "Khurram’s Quorum," and highlights from his newsletter, "Khurram’s Forum." Links to these resources are included below.
